Distributed energy resources consist of various resource types and technologies that may be located at low- to medium-voltage networks, including distributed generation plants such as rooftop solar PV, and other enabling technologies such as behind-the-meter batteries, EVs, residential heat pumps and demand response, among others. If these resources are provided with better visibility to network and system operators, they could help provide grid services. This solution requires market design innovations, to allow these resources provide such services, individually or through aggregators. Read more
